Seloxium Awarded Grant from the European Council to Transform Industrial Waste into Valuable Resources

Seloxium Ltd. is delighted to announce that we have been awarded funding from the European Innovation Council (EIC) for our project “SELECTAL: Scalable, Selective, and Low-Cost Recovery of Critical Metals from Complex Waste.” 

Across Europe, vast quantities of critical metals are currently lost in chemical and mining waste streams that are too dilute, hazardous, or complex for conventional recovery systems. As a result, up to 65% of metal value is lost, with materials often incinerated or exported, creating significant economic, environmental, and regulatory challenges.

Seloxium is transforming industrial waste from a liability into a valuable resource. 
 
At the heart of this breakthrough is SELECTAL, a novel liquid metal-binding polymer platform technology that enables fast, selective, and robust recovery of critical metals from even the most challenging waste streams. Operating in a single aqueous phase, SELECTAL avoids inefficiencies and delivers over 96% recovery rates, over 99% purity, and processing in just hours. The technology can recover high-value materials including rhodium, palladium, gold, and rare earth elements. 
 
SELECTAL enables modular, containerised systems that can be deployed directly at the source of the waste, providing a clean, scalable alternative to incineration and off-site refining and recovery of the target metal. 

With EIC support, Seloxium will advance commercialisation of its modular system.
